To start off, how bad do you think Capital's head coach was? I thought that Bruce Boudreau was great, just had some really big stars who always come with big egos (like Ovie, Semin, etc.). But he worked them and has put his whole heart into making this team a great hockey team. Even so, the Capitals have fired him as head coach and already have his replacement. Say hello to former Cap and now coach Dale Hunter. He played in the NHL for 19 years, 12 of those here in Washington. Boudreau will be missed by me and many others but we must move on to what's next and I hope that means a Stanley Cup at the end of the season. Hunter's first game ever as a head coach in the NHL is tomorrow night vs. the St. Louis Blues. One cool fact about Hunter is that his jersey number is one of only 4 retired by the Capitals.
Onto Sunday's football games:
Finally! The Washington Redskins have won a game (to be honest I was beginning to lose hope in them). They beat the Seattle Seahawks 23-17. One thing they can work on this week is the right guard; if you have a field goal and a extra point blocked then you have a problem. Even on the last field goal of the game, a Seahawk got a hand on it. The play of the game to me had to be when Roy Helu ran in for a touchdown jumping over Roy Lewis on his way to the end zone. Here's a video of it: Flying Helu. In all it was a good game but Rex Grossman is going to drive me nuts if he keeps playing like he has been the rest of the season.
Pittsburgh played the Kansas City Chiefs last night and manged to win 13-9. OK, it wasn't that hard to beat them but if they hadn't....well, I think that the media would be overrun with stories of angry Steelers fans. The Chiefs scored three field goals but seemed baffled by the Steelers, fumbling to find a way to stop them. If they had had more time they might have found the answer.
Oh, I sooo enjoyed watching the Patriots give the Eagles a lesson. By half time it was clear (at least to me) who was going to win. When they showed an overhead shot of the stadium at the beginning of the fourth quarter it was 3/4 empty and those who remained rained down boos at Vince Young and the Eagles; I'm not sure if everyone left in the stadium were Pats fans or were just so mad at the Eagles that they booed anyway. The Pat's back-up QB Brain Hoyer even got to play. Final Score: 38-20.
That's all. I hope to have more guest posts up this week.
Good job this week! Lots going on. Too bad about Bruce, he did a lot for the Caps, only time will tell if that was the right move. And way to go Skins, love to see a good win. Can we get a few more?!
