A recap on Sunday's games, anyone know what was with all the winning by a field goal games?
To start the Pats lost to the Bills. I know, you're thinking what?! The Bills beat the Pats? What has happened to the world? The Bills stink (or are supposed to) but they don't. They are one of three teams in the NFL who have a perfect record (the other two if you're wondering, are the Lions and Packers). OK, back to the Pats, everything was going well all through the first half but that all came to a screeching halt when the Bills started to climb back. You all now know what happened, the Pats lost 38-35.
The team who started of the season with a horrible loss to the Ravens has proved yet again that they are a very great team. The Steelers won against the Colts who are still without Payton Manning. But the did put up a very good fight, letting the Steelers win by a three points. Not bad and it's another win under the Steelers' belts.
In the city of Washington D.C it was Dallas Week (yes, I know that they only played them once this week, but it's all people talk about up until the game). For all you who aren't from around D.C. you might be like, so what, it's just a game. OH, but you would be very wrong. Dallas Week is one of the few times that non-football fans get excited about football. As one news reporter put it, "What's your game face?" Well I dropped to the floor like a melted puddle when I found out they lost. Yes, they lost, by a field goal. Arrrg! But hey, our kicker was good this week all though the game. The really sad part about this loss is that the team we lost to ONLY scored field goals.
In the world of baseball: The Red Sox could possibly make it into the post-season as a wildcard team but only if they win against the Orioles.
The Nationals are doing great; unfortunately it's at the end of the season. Why couldn't you have started being good earlier????? WHY?
WAAAAWHHOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Hockey starts in a little more then a week away and I am just a little bit excited about it......if you couldn't already tell.
So I wrote this on Monday night but hit the save button and not the publish button, oops...

Football and pre-season hockey
First I didn't mean to forget about writing but the ragweed is really bad by me and I might have had a cold. So about Sunday's games:
The Skins won 22-21 against the Cardinals. Not a big surprise, they played a team named after a bird! They could have stepped on them. Back to the game, it did come down to one point, and Graham Gano isn't that good on short kicks, like say a field goal, but it should work itself out in time. In my view if they stay this way they could be good but only good. Fix a few things here and there and you might be almost as good as the Steelers. In a small recap: The good, the D-fence is doing it's job which is sacking the QB and keeping the other team from winning. The bad, Rex is throwing interceptions which is bad and Gano is still in need of help with kicking. All in all not a bad game and they locked down when it counted.
Moving on to the Steelers. They bounced back nicely from their week 1 loss to the Ravens by crushing the Seahawks (ok, what is with all the bird teams this week? They're starting to bug me...) 24-0. Ok, the Seahawks didn't put up that much of a fight but still it does require work to score and win so not a bad performance. Just please try to win more and against harder opponents.
To one of the hottest teams in the league right now, the Patriots. With two wins under their belt and a ridiculous 940 yards passing for Brady and Company, need I say much more or are you starting to get why I called them one of the hottest teams in the league?? Their game was great, as to be expected. Final score 35-21.
Capitals had their first preseason game last night and lost to Nashville 2-0. But it was the first game and they might have been thinking about what Matt Bradley said after leaving the team. I'll let them get away with this loss but once the regular season starts I'll expect more from them like maybe a Stanley Cup.
That's all and I'll be more on time for the next post.

Bouncing Helmets
In light of resent games with loads of flying helmets in them, I thought that I should share my opinion with the world (and by world I mean the people who read this). All through the preseason and in some of last week's games there were helmets flying left and right. The helmets would better protect the players brains if they stayed on their heads. It might just help with the concussion problem that everyone keeps talking about. They could fix the problem with duct-tape, it fixes everything you know. Or make it so that you need a key or something to take it off. Really, helmets only do good when they're on the player's head. You could use it for a bowl if you wanted too... just a thought.
Bye for now. I'll have a new post tomorrow after the games.

Patriots Game
Last night was a night of records for the New England Patriots. Tom Brady became the 11th player in the NFL to throw for over 500 yards in one game (he's ranked 5th with 517 yards). The Pats also had the longest single play in the team's history with a 99 yarder via Brady and Wes Walker. It was a great sight for me, but for any Miami fan it wasn't so great. Running a no huddle game wore out the Miami D-fence and by the end of the game the were too tired to even run after the receivers. It was like they were saying "Can we please call the game yet? Now? Please? I'm begging you, end the game already, coach. We're dying out there." Score after score for the Pats was like adding salt to a wound over and over again. Only down side was the field goal attempt that looked like it was being pulled by a gigantic magnet or maybe it saw a fan that upset him (the football is the he) since it totally missed the net, let alone the goal. Final Score: 38-24 Pats.
INJURIES:
Around the league was a slew of injuries and since I can't find the list I made this morning I'll put it in the next post.
Good Night and don't forget... oops I forgot. :)

Skins win and well....
There's good news and bad news, we'll start with the good news.
The Washington Redskins have won game one of their 2011-2012 season. Hehe, I'm sooo happy mostly because we won, but a good portion of that was because we won against the NY Giants. To all that like them, you're team isn't so big and scary to us any more. I've always disliked the Giants (for obvious reasons, 1 they're a New York team, 2 they have a Manning as a QB). Rex Grossman seemed to prove that the Shannahans made the right choice in a starter but I still don't agree. Rookie line backer (LB) Ryan Kerrigan, has made it onto my favorite players list. Yesterday, he batted the ball out of the air, intercepted it and ran it in for a touch-down. Yes, a Rookie LB did that. If you don't believe me go look it up. I'm telling you it's true. Final Score: 28-14 Skins.
Onto the bad news:
The Steelers lost. Fine I'll say it, they were creamed, pureed, steam rolled, crushed, pummeled; need more? I didn't think so. Well, the "steel wall" I talked about last time is still not working. It was more like the wall of cotton candy because the Ravens ate it up unfortunately. There's always the next game, 'sigh'. Final Score: 35-7 Ravens.
A brief note on the Patriots game that's going on right now. #67 Dan Koppen was taken off the feild on a cart due to a left leg injury. I'll have more on that Pat's game tomorrow.
Off the finish watching to the end of the game. Goodnight till tomorrow.

Plane Crash in Russia
Yesterday, a plane carrying 45 players and coaches of a KHL hockey team, crashed shortly after take-off, killing all but one player and a crew member. Alex Ovechkin had just taken to the ice for a work out when he heard the news, he had played with the lone player that survied in the juinor Russia league; other Capital's players knew some of those killed in the plane crash. Several of the others on the plane had either played in or had connections to the NHL here in the US. A former Red Wing player was one of the ones killed. My prayers go out to all those affected by the crash.
While on hockey matters: Pittsburgh Penguin star Sidney Crosby is still recovering from a double concussion he suffered earlier this year. He said it's likely he would be able to return for the regular season, but won't rush things. That's a good idea, I wouldn't want him rushing things either if I had suffered a double concussion or even a single one.
In the world of football, the regular season starts tonight with the Saints vs. the Green Bay Packers. Yea, football's back, I am happy now! If anyone were to tell me that football had to be postponed due to {fill in your scenario here} I would die. OK, I would live but a little piece inside of me would die.
In Redskin news, John Beck did not get the starting quarterback position, Rex Grossman did. Humph. I do not agree with this decision. Doesn't my opinion count?? Well, (a sensible person would tell me) you're not the coach of the team and so you don't have a say in the matter. Phooey, I should. Rex throws too many interceptions for my liking and I tend to like the underdog (who happens to be Beck in this case, although I thought he had it in the bag).
The rain has come again and I better post this before we lose power again. Stay safe and don't drive in standing water (unless you are in a boat... do they call that driving?).

UVA - W&M
Well as I said in my last post, I went to the UVA - W&M football game yesterday and as I thought, it was AWESOME!! Unfortunately, it was really a blowout: 40-3 UVA. I loved going to my first live game, the whole thing from the food (meaning the tailgate before the game), to the commentary by the people we went with, and the football of course. One thing I didn't get, if UVA is the Cavaliers, then why are they the Wahoos? If anyone knows, please inform me with a comment, 'cause I don't know but want to. The fans at the game were amazing, funny, and rowdy, but sorry, hockey fans got you beat. Before I went to the game I really wasn't into the whole college sports world, I just knew who the teams were. Now, just like when "I came to hockey" as one of my friends put it, I went in person and loved it. I really wasn't surprised as I already loved football, now I just have another sport to follow. No big deal. To wrap up since I rambled for most of this, UVA won over W&M and it was super sweet to go to the game.
The preseason in the NFL is over and the regular season starts on Thursday. I caaan't waaait!!!! (I'm just a little excited, if you couldn't tell) The Skin's have finally pulled their team together, meaning that they have good players that all work together well (I still don't know the final roster yet); New England has gathered a cast of characters that (crossing my fingers here) will work like a well oiled machine; and last but not least, Pittsburgh, from my view two states south, they look good. Now they only have to get that steel curtain to start working again.
In the baseball world: Steven Strasbourg is heading back to the major leagues. He started in his final minor league game this past week. He looked good in the highlights I saw, to be honest he looked the same before he had Tommy-John surgery.
This is the best time of year, (well almost) fall's coming, football's starting, and how could I forget, hockey's coming.

Guess what, world...
Ahem (dramaic pause) your Washington Redskins are baaackkk!!! I really don't care if it's the preseason or not; they're winning games. And in my experinance teams who do well in the preseason tend (not always) to do well in the regular season. Oh, you want to know the final score, my bad, 29-24. It came down to the last minutes of the game, the Skins got a touchdown then the defense went to work to keep the Buccaneers out of the end zone. They did it and won the game. One of the many highlights of the game was Brandon Bank's 95 yard punt return. It almost was denided because it was douted if he had control of the call as he entered the end zone. In my professional opinion, he had control of the football.
In other Redskin news: a robber broke into Chris Cooley's pottery store. None of the merchandise was harmed but the front window was broken, the computer and cash register were taken. Chris Cooley makes most of the pottery he sells in his store himself. He makes it at home in his studio and bakes it in a kiln that he made in his backyard.
I get to go to my first football game tomorrow night. :-) UVA - W&M. It will be fun. I command it to be fun.
Until next time, good night.
